A Whiter Shade of Pale, the 1967 Procol Harem hit, has been announced by music company Phonographic Performance Ltd as the most played song in public places in Britain over the last 75 years. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody came in at number two. "Publicly aired" includes plays on radio, at sports stadiums and on jukeboxes as well as the music heard in elevators, dentist offices and supermarkets.
