I originally had the Florida 'purchase' from Spain in 1819, but the 3 above were more or less legitimate purchases. Wikipedia has 24 separate territorial gains, many by war. Has the U.S. every lost territory by war or coercion? And, if true, is it the only country to always get and never give up?
