Pre-Summer Reading

If any one is in need of a good book to read, I suggest The Forever War by New York Times writer, Dexter Filkins. He takes no sides in his presentation of the wars in Iraq and to some extent Afghanistan, but is quite effective in simply portraying the horrors and oddities of war.

In preparation for the off chance that I am re-incarnated as a French baker I read La Guerre Sans Fin and agree with Ted. Quelle foutue pagaille! I'm almost done with Les Reves de mon Pere by Obama. Pretty impressive work and really interesting to hear the prez speaking french slang and also the footnotes explaining the untranslatable. The one thing that bothers me about the book is that Obama recalls things like what drink someone ordered at a bar. C'mon now.
