Today Max Scherzer struck out 15 Pirates (in 7 innings), one shy of Mickey Lolich's Detroit record of 16. Stephen Strasburg of Washington has struck out 27 Pirates in 13 innings pitched.
I think records against the Pirates during their 19 consecutive losing seasons should go down in the record books with a asterisk—like drug use or a longer season.
